New Play Headed for NYC and Edinburgh
We're so excited to once again partner with Guptanya Studios to bring a new solo show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August!
The Things I Did While Waiting For You To Fall Back In Love With Me is a hilarious new solo show from playwright and performer Sarah Hogewood described as a funeral you can’t keep your inappropriate self from laughing through. This one-woman show is a love letter to the humiliating experience of becoming a grown up, and the way grief connects us all. If Hamlet had more of a lesbian vibe, this would be his performance art to be or not to be. Through stories of trial and error based on real accounts from heartbreak survivors, the audience will crack up and crack open in the search for evidence that we are not alone. The show has been called "the next Fleabag" so grab your tickets while they're still available!
Before we head to Edinburgh, we'll be presenting the show Off-Broadway at 59E59 in New York City for 3 performances ONLY so get your tickets now!
NYC Fringe Festival Awards
After a really exciting and successful run at the NYC Fringe Festival, we were honored to receive the BEST COMEDY and AUDIENCE CHOICE awards for The Leading Lady Club: A Feminist (But Still Likable) Sketch Show. This just proves what we already believed to be true - this show has a bright future! Stay tuned for updates on the future of The Leading Lady Club!

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival
In Summer 2023, Leading Lady Creative and Guptanya Studios co-produced The Leading Lady Club, a play about women's experiences with dating apps, self-defense, workplace interactions, abuse, mansplaining and more. Imagine the "Barbie" movie meets SNL in this hilariously dark commentary on what it means to be a woman in the world today. Inspired by interviews with real women of different backgrounds, ages, races and experiences. Written by Sarah Hogewood.
The show had a sold-out Off-Broadway run at 59E59 Theatres in New York City before heading to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it ran for a week at the Infirmary on Greenside Street. An interview with Hogewood was featured in Playbill and met with rave reviews from The Scotsman, The Edinburgh Guide and Fringe patrons.
PRAISE FOR THE LEADING LADY CLUB
"Sisterhood is an incredible thing. In a world where women are often marginalized from birth, made to shrink themselves in order to fit predetermined expectations of "proper" behavior, there is power in the ebullient communication that can occur between a group of women analyzing their lives."
- Playbill
"A deeply moving and poignant piece on what it means to be a woman walking through todays society. Equally heart breaking and hysterical, the writing is spot on and whip smart."
- Daniel, Fringe Patron
"If you've ever been told that your symptoms are "probably nothing", that you're "not as hot as your profile picture", or that you're "pretty good for a woman" - or, indeed, if you know anybody who has heard anything like this - then you'll be engaged by The Leading Lady Club."
- The Scotsman
"A powerful, insightful, moving little show that anyone who identifies as a woman will relate to. Well written and directed. The actors were outstanding. Well done ladies."
- Andrea, Fringe Patron
